Yosh Hughes win at Thompson

Thompson, CT - The Thompson International Speedway received for the third time the GTS caravan, for some more short track action. The competiton was tough with some great drivers attending this event, joining the more regular ones.

This event had one of the more competitive fields of this season, with the return of Miguel Gomes, one of the best short track drivers in the league, Carlos Costa, always one of the fastest drivers in any track, Peo Forsberg another very fast and reliable driver, and Fausto Gomes, one of the most experienced drivers in the series. Also Andreas Scholz was present with the second V.OSR Mercedes.

The qualify was dominated by Carlos Costa, placing his #13 V.OSR Mercedes in the best place ahead of Yosh Hughes and Peo Forsberg.

The battle was tough between those drivers, with Carlos, Yosh, Jim and Rob, leading several laps between them, but always with the pressure of other drivers like Miguel and Peo.

Carlos had to park his car after his engine blew up, in consequence of some damage.

With Carlos out of the race and some other contenders having problems and some bad luck with  pit strategy, Yosh, Jim and Mighel, went for the final battle, for the lead.

The #76 Chevy Monte Carlo, showed its power by gradually increasing the gap to Miguel and Jim, winning more confortably than the previous laps had shown. Jim was able to pass Miguel for the second place, with Miguel ending in third. Peo Forsberg ended in 4th with some damage in his car, but the driver was really happy with the final result, since he was absent from the races for a long time. The 5th place, and the greatest surprise, was achieved by Carlos Caldas. The #90 is giving his first steps in the series, and he is already achieving some very interesting results.

Jim Turner still leads confortably the series, while Yosh is now a more confortable second place, after a very poor race for Paulo Rocha, that was involved in a crash with his team mate, Filipe Caldas.

The team battle was won by the TLP VW Passat, but only by 1pt. VMaxSr team made it very difficult till the end.
